Flycatchers are some of my favorite birds. They so colorful and do not seem too shy of the camera.

Stephen > Late in the day, probably around 6:30pm, I finally was fortunate enough to see a great kiskadee arrive at blind #3 at the Martin Refuge. It drank water, took some seed and gave me a few nice perches. Edinburg, Texas, June 2008
Stephen > Turning around to other side, this great kiskadee kept its situational awareness of the surroundings. Martin Refuge, Edinburg, Texas, June 2008
Stephen > Taking a break from the blinds, I walked around the house of John and Audrey Martin, owners of the Martin Refuge, where I ran into to these great kiskadees. One had just finished putting a huge cicada in its mouth for a quick lunch. If you look carefully, you can still see the wings of the cicada and the lump in the kiskadee's throat. Edinburg, Texas, June 2008
Stephen > After enjoying a cicada midday meal, this great kiskadee relaxes in the branches and leaves of the trees of the Martin Refuge. The light is a bit harsh as I took this picture at noon, but I still like the image. Edinburg, Texas, June 2008
Stephen > This Great Kiskadee had just come in to a water feature near the backyard patio of John and Audrey Martin's house at the Martin Refuge. After taking the water it flew into some branches and began squawking. I am not sure why, but it was loud! Edinburg, Texas, June 2008
Stephen > Another vermillion flycatcher hanging out by the pond near the entrance center to Aransas NWR, November 2007.
Stephen > Looking head-on at a Vermillion Flycatcher that was very active catching insects above a small pond at Aransas National Wildlife Refuge near Austwell, Texas. November 2007.
Stephen > This is one of two vermillion flycatchers I was able to photograph at the Aransas Wildlife National Refuge. Near Austwell, Texas, November, 2007.
Stephen > This is either a Couch's Kingbird or a Tropical Kingbird. I really can't tell. It was shot at the Arroyo Colorado Nature Area in Harlingen, Texas, June 2007.
