Some of the prettiest birds in my area. The cardinals all have bright, vivid colors and beautiful songs. Many are spring and summer visitors while the cardinals are here in my area all year.
I got lucky with this photo. I had been chasing various birds including the male cardinal, but it just would not let me get close, but I did find this less skittish female cardinal. I had to photograph through some branches but I think the image turned out relatively well. Midlothian, Texas, March 2008.
