Birds > Stephen  > Animals > Sparrows, Finches, Swallows and Allies
As the title suggests these are some different photographs of sparrows, finches and just a few swallows shot mainly around my home but a few are from out of town.

Stephen > I do not have much luck with barn swallows. I have tried in vain to photograph them in flight and I have also tried in vain to find one perching on something natural. About the only thing I can find are barn swallows perching on barbed wire near pastures. I'll take it. Midlothian, Texas, April 2008
Stephen > This was my first sighting of a lesser goldfinch at the Martin Refuge. It was a perched in the trees just on the perimeter of the photography blind area. This is a 50% crop of the full frame. Martin Refuge, Edinburg, Texas, June 2008
Stephen > Staying relatively high and far away from the main perches at this blind at the Martin Refuge, the lesser goldfinch tried to make itself as inconspicuous as possible, but I did manage to find it in my viewfinder for this image. This is almost a 50% crop of full frame and I used flash for fill. It was located in under a canopy of leaves. Edinburg, Texas, June 2008
Stephen > This lesser goldfinch would not come out of the leaves and branches for seed or water at the first blind at which I spent time while visiting the Martin Refuge. Consequently, I took this image of the goldfinch hiding among some branches. It was quite difficult to get a clean shot, but after rearranging my gear and a few moves on the part of the subject, I was able to get this photo. Edinburg, Texas, June 2008
