Birds > Stephen  > Animals > Wrens, Gnatcatchers and Thrushes
A collection of wrens, thrushes and waxwings. These are some very colorful and active birds. Like many other birds, their songs are especially nice. I am particularly fond of the wrens' songs.

Stephen > Back to singing after a brief rest, this Bewick's Wren really let it loose with very pretty song with wonderful high twirling notes. Midlothian, Texas, January 2008.
Stephen > Still singing, this Bewick's Wren never seemed to tire as it kept on vocalizing on this windy, cold, but sunny winter day. Midlothian, Texas, January 2008.
Stephen > The bewick's wren was calling and basically having a fit as one of its young had just emerged from the nest. I suppose this one and the other adult were calling trying to distract attention from it. Midlothian, Texas, May 2009
Stephen > I captured this Bewick's Wren just as it moved onto this clear perch. It didn't stay long and never really gave me a good look at its face, but I like the pose. Midlothian, Texas, January 2010
Stephen > High in a dead tree, this Bewick's wren was about to belt out a song. Midlothian, Texas, March 2009

Stephen > This Bewick's Wren was flitting around this hackberry tree in my yard and allowed me this rather close approach before flying off to another tree. My DOF here is a bit shallow, but I still like the photo. Midlothian, Texas. March 2008.
Stephen > I found this carolina wren singing quite strongly this morning. I don't like the stick directly in front of the wren's beak, but this wren moved so quickly that this was the only shot I could get. Midlothian, Texas, April 2007.
