Birds > Stephen  > Animals > Wrens, Gnatcatchers and Thrushes
A collection of wrens, thrushes and waxwings. These are some very colorful and active birds. Like many other birds, their songs are especially nice. I am particularly fond of the wrens' songs.

Stephen > Here is one of the eastern bluebird chicks from my nesting boxes. It is fun watching them grow and develop. This is the second brood. What is neat is that the juveniles from the first brood are now helping mom and dad bluebird feed these chicks in the second brood. Midlothian, Texas, May 2009
Stephen > I was actually trying to photograph hummingbirds when this eastern bluebird in fall plumage flew right in front of my camera. I was using my long lens so I couldn't fit the whole bird in the frame, but I do like the detail and color I was able to photograph in the morning light. I chose a vertical crop for presentation. Stephen > I prefer natural perches but I do like the texture present on this old, painted fence post that is losing its luster. The bluebird is one of the ones that are nesting in my yard this winter and spring. Midlothian, Texas, March 2009
Stephen > I kept seeing this adult eastern bluebird perching on the chain link fence in my yard as it surveyed the ground for insects. I did not want to take a picture of it on the chain link fence so I camped out to try to get a picture of it as it landed on the ground. After quite a few attempts, I got lucky with this image. Midlothian, Texas, May 2008.
