Birds > Stephen  > Animals > Wrens, Gnatcatchers and Thrushes
A collection of wrens, thrushes and waxwings. These are some very colorful and active birds. Like many other birds, their songs are especially nice. I am particularly fond of the wrens' songs.

Stephen > Perching in the thorns, I caught this male bluebird taking a good look at my feeders about 20 feet from him. Midlothian, Texas, March 2009
Stephen > I can't seem to get enough of my bluebirds. In this picture, the male here was keeping a keen eye on the mealworm feeder. A bewick's wren was trying to get at the worms. He would dive in and drive off the wren anytime the wren got close. I hid behind a tree to get this image of him as he stood guard. Midlothian, Texas, March 2009
Stephen > I had been seeing this bluebird perch here for several seasons, but I could never get a picture of it. Finally I was able to obtain a half-way decent image. It is still heavily cropped at 67%, but I still like it. Midlothian, Texas, March 2009
Stephen > Yet another one of the bluebirds from my backyard. I caught this one late one afternoon as it was perching near my feeders. Midlothian, Texas, March 2009
Stephen > The male bluebird in my yard is much more conspicuous, but from time to time, the female will venture out of the nesting box to get some mealworms at one of my feeders. That is when I captured this image. Midlothian, Texas, March 2009
Stephen > Just another image of the male bluebird, part of a nesting pair, that is living out of one of my nesting boxes. He has staked his territory and will not let other bluebirds near my yard. Midlothian, Texas, March 2009
