NaturePhotographers > Stephen  > Animals > Turtles and tortoises
This is collection of images of the varied turtles and tortoises that I have seen. I never realized the variety of sea turtles that the Gulf of Mexico has. Many thanks go to the good people at Sea Turtle, Inc on South Padre Island, Texas. They continue to educate people about the plight of sea turtles that frequent the waters of the United States and beyond.

Stephen > One of the most common turtles in Texas, this red eared slider is showing quite well why it is named what it is named. Ft. Worth, Texas, September 2009
Stephen > After my conference in Ft. Worth, I had time to run by the Ft. Worth Botanical Gardens. It was so tranquil. Of course instead of staying on the paved paths, I took the rather muddy nature trail and ended up in area where the small creek on the property bottlenecks causing a small pond. The trees were shading the area but I did find this red eared slider sunning. I used a flash to bring out the detail. I think it worked. Ft. Worth, Texas, October 2009
