Birds > Stephen Pollard  > Animals > Shrikes
As the title suggests, this a collecton of shrike photos. I feel fortunate to be able to photograph the Loggerhead Shrike as it was listed by the National Audubon Society as one of the "Birds in Decline" in 2007.

Once again, it was cloudy and the gray clouds behind the shrike make this look like a back-lit image but really it is just the color of the sky mixed with a higher ISO than normal. I did feel fortunate to finally get a loggerhead shrike on a clean perch though. 8 Mile Road, Galveston, Texas, January 2013

8 Mile Road, Galveston, Texas, enero 2013
Perched on a fence, this loggerhead shrike was swooping down on unsuspecting insects that it would sometimes impale on the barbed wire. Midlothian, Texas, January 2010
The hawk of the songbird world; This is a Loggerhead Shrike that I photographed here in my hometown of Midlothian, Texas. It is a year round resident, but I seem to see more of them during the winter months. December 29, 2007.
