These are images of the only two species of kites to which I have had access over the years, the Mississippi Kite and the White-tailed Kite. The Mississippi Kites spend the summers in my area. The White-tailed kites are located on the central and upper coast of Texas where I have seen them.

It is funny how things work out. I had gone looking for birds to photograph on the island. I found some; nothing to write home about. As I pull up to my hotel and park my vehicle, I see these white-tailed kites whom I had previously seen on utility lines, now perching nicely in a small tree. It turns out that I did not have to travel far for the best shots of the day for me. Galveston, Texas, December 2012 Es curioso cómo salen las cosas a veces. Había salido a fotografiar aves en la isla. Encontré algunas pero nada fuera de lo ordinario. Cuando llegué a mi hotel y me estacioné, vi estos milanos coliblancos, los cuales había visto antes en unos cables de servicios públicos o postes, que ahora se posan bonitamente en un árbol chico. Resultó que no tuve que viajar mucho para lograr las mejores fotos del día. Galveston, Texas, diciembre 2012
