This is simply a collection of different raptors that I have photographed from in and around my local area and the state of Texas. I had never really realized that there were so many different birds of prey in Texas ranging from the small American Kestrel to the Bald Eagle.
I had been watching this red tailed hawk on a utility pole when it suddenly took off for the ground and picked up this snake from a nearby field. What is neat about this photo is that if you look just above the hawk's talon on its hip, more or less, you can see the snake biting the hawk. Midlothian, Texas, November 2007.
