This is simply a collection of different raptors that I have photographed from in and around my local area and the state of Texas. I had never really realized that there were so many different birds of prey in Texas ranging from the small American Kestrel to the Bald Eagle.
I was surprised to find two red-shouldered hawks together. Most hawks seem to be such solitary creatures except for breeding and nesting time. At any rate, I felt fortunate to find these two together. I am assuming the larger hawk to the left is the female and the smaller one to the right is the male. The female would not turn around for the longest but finally did. Plus she turned her head while the male was looking back as well. I wish the morning light hadn't been so harsh. This was the only angle I could get on them though. I would have had to walk under them to photograph them from the other side. I am sure both would have flown away by then.
