This is simply a collection of different raptors that I have photographed from in and around my local area and the state of Texas. I had never really realized that there were so many different birds of prey in Texas ranging from the small American Kestrel to the Bald Eagle.
At the Javelina Ranch in the Lower Rio Grande Valley I was able to take quite a few pictures of a family of crested caracaras that were feeding at one of the ranch's blinds. Here a juvenile perches as it surveys the area before flying down to the ground to pick up some meat, actually chicken. Peñitas, Texas, June 2009
